Slovenian Primoz Roglic won the 19th stage of the Tour de France on the final day in the mountains on Friday, with Britain’s Geraint Thomas finishing second.

Roglic moved up to third in the general classification, two minutes and 24 seconds behind Team Sky’s Thomas, the race leader.

Dutchman Tom Dumoulin is in second place, at 2:05, with the defending champion, Britain’s Chris Froome, slipping to fourth at 2:37.

‘I am really happy with this victory. It’s a really nice feeling to win again in the Tour,’ said Roglic, who won a stage in the Alps last year.

‘I felt really good. I tried several times [to attack] on the Aubisque and I finally got away in the descent. It’s perfect.’

Thomas told BBC Sport: ‘I’m certainly in a good position but I’m still trying not to get carried away and think about winning the yellow jersey.

‘As soon as you take your eye off the ball, you can slip up. I’ve got a two-minute advantage but still need to ride well on Saturday. I hope it’s enough.’
