The 52-year-old coach made history by becoming the first Portuguese coach to win the Betway Premiership title.
Sundowns secured their eighth consecutive league title on Wednesday evening after defeating Chippa United 3-0 at Buffalo City Stadium.
A goal from Iqraam Rayners and a double from Arthur Sales was enough to secure the win and the title with one game left to play.
The Brazilians will look to end their Betway Premiership campaign on a high when they welcome Magesi FC to Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday for their final match.
“I know that people were very suspicious when I arrived in this country, I don’t know why,” Cardoso told SuperSport TV.
“But I just make love to everybody, I love to be in South Africa, I love to be among you, I love your culture, I love your country.
“And I love to be part of the Masandawana family that really received me like I was one of them. That gave me a very strong starting point to give also the best for myself.”
