Mamelodi Sundowns suffered their second defeat in the Absa Premiership following their 2-0 loss against Ajax Cape Town on Wednesday evening.
The match got to a good start in the early stages of the match with Sundown’s Percy Tau and Ajax’s Mark Mayambela looking lively in the early stages of the match.

Mayambela came close to broke the deadlock in the 20th minute when the winger beat his marker before being denied by Denis Onyango with a fine save.

The Urban Warriors should have gone ahead in the 29th minute when Mayambela volleyed over from six-yards out.

Sundowns continued to press for an opening goal and came close in the 35th minute when Hlompho Kekana rattled the woodwork from 25-yards out.

However, the score remained goalless as the sides entered the halftime interval.

The Urban Warriors eventually broke the deadlock in the 71st minute when Bantu Mzwakali’s low cross found Thabo Mosadi, who slotted into an empty net.

The hosts made it 2-0 a minute later when Mayambela beat Thabo Nthethe, before setting up Mdabuka for a tap-in.

The Urban Warriors managed to see off Sundowns to claim all three points to secure their second victory in the Absa Premiership this season.

Meanwhile, Free State Stars claimed their first win of the Absa Premiership season after claiming a 3-1 victory over struggling Platinum Stars at Goble Park.

Ea Lla Koto claimed all three points with goals by Mbuyiselo Thethani, Danny Venter, and Thokozani Sekotlong, while Dikwena have now suffered a third successive defeat in the Absa Premiership.
