Portugal’s World Cup campaign got off to an underwhelming start as they were held to a 1-1 draw by DR Congo in their Group K opener at the NRG Stadium in Texas.

Cristiano Ronaldo failed to find the back of the net in his record-equalling sixth World Cup appearance.

Portugal got off to the perfect start and opened the scoring as early as the fifth minute through Joao Neves.

However, Congo find an equalising goal in the 49th minute through a header from Yoane Wissa.

Neither side could find the winning goal as they settled for a point each in their Group K opener.
