Eben Etzebeth is set to make his long-awaited return to the field in what would be a significant boost for last-place Toulon as they prepare to face Top 14 rivals Bordeaux on Saturday.
Toulon president Bernard Lemaître has labelled Springbok lock Eben Etzebeth as a “handicap” to the club as he is “expensive, is regularly injured and is often away on Test duty”.
Despite none featuring among the nominees for the Player of the Year award, five Springboks have been named in World Rugby’s Men’s 15s Dream Team of the Year on Wednesday.
