Never once to mince his words, Pitso Mosimane hinted to signing Phakamani Mahlambi and Lebogang Maboe as replacements for Khama Billiat and Percy Tau.

Speculation in the media has been running wild regarding the Mahlambi to Sundowns deal, with the two parties reportedly trying to find middle ground on the move.

It is reported that defending PSL champions Sundowns are looking to land the 20-year-old’s signature on a permenant basis, while Al Ahly are said to be holding out for a loan move.

The Bafana Bafana international has been playing his football with the Egyptian side who were voted as Africa’s club of the century, but has yet to break through and become a regular feature in the first team.

Nonetheless, it appears Mahlambi is being looked at by Sundowns as the side look to strengthen the attack following the departures of Khama Billiat (to Kaizer Chiefs) and Percy Tau (to Brighton).

According to reports, the Egyptian giants have asked for a loan deal whereas the Brazilians want the young star on a permanent basis.

Speaking to Kickoff, Mosimane said: “There’s a 20-year-old that I am fighting to get. Hopefully I can get (him]). He’s not here (in the PSL). That’s the future, so we need to bring the future to Sundowns.

Mosimane also hinted strongly at making a move for Maritzburg United midfielder Lebohang Maboe who starred last season in the Nedbank Cup winning both the Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament and Most Promising Player awards.

‘We should not only be looking at the senior players. There’s two U23s that I also want. But the challenge is that they must also be ready to play. But I think I can get it right in a year or two.

‘Because you must also understand the age of (Hlompho) Kekana, (Tiyani) Mabunda, (Oupa) Manyisa, Ricardo (Nascimento), (Wayne) Arendse, Denis (Onyango), Kennedy (Mweene).

‘So that is why you can see I am aggressive on the younger ones now. I don’t want to be caught up in a situation where there’s only old players,’ he concluded.
