Chelsea scored three goals in eight minutes as they came from 2-0 down to run out 3-2 victors against Southampton on Saturday afternoon, writes MARSHALL GOUTS.

Chelsea looked poor in the opening exchanges, often needlessly giving away possession in the midfield.

The home side were content with absorbing the Blues’ pressure and deservedly took the lead in the 21st minute with their first attempt of the game.

A bursting run from Ryan Bertrand eventually saw the Southampton captain find Dusan Tadic in the area, with the striker making no mistake to net his fourth goal of the campaign.

Chelsea reverted to a route one tactic as they upped their tempo in search of the equaliser. Striker Alvaro Morata came close on the 30th minute, but his header went wide.

Southampton went into the half-time break with their one-goal lead.

Chelsea came out in the second-half guns blazing and looked more dangerous with Eden Hazard and Willian combining to good effect.

The home side doubled their advantage in the 60th minute when Jan Bednarek latched on to James Ward-Prowse’s perfectly weighted free kick.

Antonio Conte made an immediate double change as he brought on Olivier Giroud and Pedro on for David Zappacosta and Alvaro Morata.

The change seemed to work wonders as Giroud reduced his side’s deficit minutes after coming on after latching on to Marco Alonso’s ball into the area in the 70th minute.

Five minutes later, Chelsea were level as Hazard fired in a fierce effort after latching on to Willian’s ball.

The comeback was completed in the 78th minute when a well-taken short free kick saw Cesar Azpilicueta head the ball to Giroud who drilled it into the bottom corner on the half-volley.

In the end, Southampton were left to rue their collapse as Chelsea ended their two-game winless streak in the Premier League to run out 3-2 victors.
