Orlando Pirates midfielder Thalente Mbatha has revealed what head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou told them during the half-time break in their win over Tshakhuma FC.
The Buccaneers advanced to the Nedbank Cup last 16 following their 4-1 win over Tshakhuma FC at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Mbatha got his name on the scoresheet and walked away with the Man of the Match award for his stellar performance in the Round of 32 match.
The Pirates midfielder revealed that Ouaddou told them to go out in the second half and score more goals to secure their victory.
“Coach told us at halftime that we’re bringing them into the game, and we must come back and score two goals for us to secure this game,” Mbatha told SuperSport TV after the game.
“So, I believe that also the words the coach gave us in the change room and the words of encouragement that pushed us to come and continue.
“As you saw, that, the impact players came in and changed the game. ‘Tito’ [Patrick Maswanganyi] scored and assisted, so, for us it’s all about attitude and mentality to keep going.”
