England captain Harry Kane admitted there is still room for improvement but stressed that results are all that matter at this stage of the World Cup.
The Three Lions made their way to this stage of the tournament after they beat DR Congo 2-1 in the Round of 32.
England will now take on co-hosts Mexico in the World cup last 16 when they meet at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
Kane believes England showed the resilience needed to keep their campaign alive by battling through another difficult test.
“There are still things to work on for sure and these rounds are just about getting through,” Kane told FIFA.
“We are in the part of the tournament when you have to grind wins out, and that’s what we have done.”
