Miguel Cardoso says Mamelodi Sundowns will need to remain tactically disciplined as they prepare to face a competitive opponent like Stade Malien.

The Brazilians are set to welcome the Malian outfit to Loftus Versfeld Stadium when they meet in the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League.

Sundowns will come into this fixture off the back of a 2-0 victory over Orbit College FC in the previous match.

The head coach highlighted that while keeping clean sheets is crucial for a side known for scoring goals,

Cardoso says maintaining the right balance when pushing forward will be key to securing a positive result in the CAF Champions League.

“We are going to play a team that’s very competitive. In away matches, they can be very narrow in defence, keeping stability in their defensive line,” Cardoso said, as per SuperSport.

“For a team like us that scores goals, it’s important to keep clean sheets because they guarantee points. But we must not focus only on that – we must ensure that when we attack, we remain balanced.”
