New Stellenbosch FC signing George Matlou admits the club’s winning mentality and environment is what attracted him to the club.
The 28-year-old joins the club on a free transfer after parting ways with Kaizer Chiefs, where he made 46 appearances across all competitions.
He brings a wealth of experience, having previously played for Bidvest Wits, All Stars, Cape Umoya United, AD Sanjoanense, Moroka Swallows and most recently Chiefs.
Matlou says he is excited to begin a new chapter in his career after joining the Cape Winelands outfit.
“I feel very happy to be here and to be part of Stellenbosch Football Club,” Matlou told his club’s official website.
“I’m looking forward to this new journey that I’ve chosen to take.
“Stellenbosch is a well-structured club that plays good football and has been competing every season. I saw myself being part of that.
“Having watched and played against Stellenbosch throughout my career, I saw that this is a team with a winning mentality and an environment where I can achieve even more.
“It’s not going to be an easy season, and it’s a long journey, but if we take it one game at a time, with a winning desire, we can achieve big things together.”
