Highlands Park striker Collins Mbesuma was disappointed with his side’s performance against Golden Arrows following their 1-0 defeat at Makhulong Stadium on Sunday.

The Lions of the North thought they were cruising to a goalless draw against Abafana Bes’thende, but were undone by a 86th-minute strike via midfielder Danny Phiri.

The 32-year-old striker admits they lost concentration in the second half of the match, ultimately leading to their defeat.

‘It’s disappointing,’ Mbesuma said afterwards.

‘I think in the first half we had the game, but in the second half I don’t know what happened – we lost concentration. In the PSL, if you make one mistake, you get punished.

‘As players we have to push each and every game, and we are looking ahead to the next game on Wednesday, but we need to work hard and push more.’

Highlands Park travel to the Bidvest Stadium to take on Bidvest Wits in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday.

Kick-off has been set for 19:30.
