Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has paid tribute to Teboho Mokoena after earning his 50th cap for South Africa against Zambia.

South Africa secured a comfortable 3-1 victory over Zambia in an international friendly through goals from Oswin Appollis, Mohau Nkota and Sphephelo Sithole.

Mokoena, who marked this game with a milestone of 50 caps for the national team, played 45 minutes before being replaced in the second half with Thalente Mbatha.

Broos has since praised the midfielder for reaching this milestone and touched on his importance in the Bafana squad.

“I congratulate him, certainly. It is not everyone who earns 50 caps and now he will even have even more (in the future).

“Teboho Mokoena has become one of the most important South African national team players.”
