Kwagga Smith has been ruled out for six weeks with a groin injury, while another three Lions players have also been sidelined.

Smith impressed at No 8 for the Lions against the Rebels last Saturday, scoring a try in their 36-33 comeback win.

The Lions received further bad news when prop Dylan Smith was ruled out for at least the next eight weeks with a broken cheekbone and 20-year-old flank Vincent Tshituka for six weeks because of an ankle injury.

Fullback Andries Coetzee will miss Saturday’s match against the Sunwolves in Singapore because of a hamstring strain.

The Johannesburg-based side is already without captain Warren Whiteley and fellow loose forward Cyle Brink, neither of whom will be fit to face the Sunwolves.
