The Blitzboks finished top of their pool with a 33-15 win against England at the Hong Kong Sevens on Saturday, reports DYLAN JACK.

England, who needed to win the match by more than seven points to get into the quarter-finals, got off to a dream start as they won the ball back from the kick-off and Alex Davis scored within the first 30 seconds.

The Blitzboks found a quick response when they worked their way into England’s 22 and Stedman Gans scored under the posts off a quick-tap penalty.

England then hit back straight off the kick-off as William Wilson scored in the corner after a number of brilliant offloads took them near South Africa’s tryline.

On the stroke of half-time, Selvyn Davids spun out of a tackle and ran 40m to put the Blitzboks 14-10 up.

England started the second half strongly and dotted down two minutes into it when Will Edwards made a brilliant wide run off a quick-tap penalty.

However, it was all the Blitzboks from then on as they retook the lead when Davids made a massive 70m sprint to score in the corner and pick up his brace.

Further tries from Mfundo Ndlovu and Gans sealed the win.
