Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs were forced play out to a goalless draw in the Absa Premiership at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

In the opening exchanges, Amakhosi had most of the possession with the likes of Hendrick Ekstein, Geroge Lebese and Keagan Buchanan controlling the game for Chiefs.

The first chance came in the 23rd minute when Riyaad Norodien found Thabo Rakhale with a fine pass, but Amakhosi goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune rushed off his line to deny the winger.

Both Chiefs and Pirates failed to create any clear-cut chances in the final third, with the score still goalless at the half-time break.

The Buccaneers nearly broke the deadlock shortly after the break, when striker Tendai Ndoro picked out Gift Motupa in the box, but the midfielder ballooned his effort over the bar from close range.

Opportunities were hard to come by for Amakhosi and the Sea Robbers as both sides were forced into taking shots from distance.

However, neither side could a find the winning goal and were forced to share the spoils in a disappointing Soweto derby at the FNB Stadium.
