Cape Town City boss Eric Tinkler has revealed he is pleased by his side’s recent performances but expects them to continue to improve.

City edged Kaizer Chiefs 1-0 in the MTN8 quarter-finals last week, a result which followed a 2-0 win over  Polokwane City in their first Premiership game of the season.

‘Our transitional play is something that needs to improve,’ Tinkler told KickOff

‘It wasn’t good enough against Chiefs as well. I really felt had we been more clinical in terms of our transition we would have been winning the game fairly comfortably on the transition.’

Tinkler explained that despite his side having enjoyed far less possession against Chiefs he was pleased with the way his side had defended in the tie. He did, however, point out some areas of their play could still improve.

‘So all of these things were good it’s just that our transitional play wasn’t up to the standard I expected and if we can just work on that and get better at it, it bodes well for the rest of the league campaign.

‘It’s a building process we got to keep working hard,’ he concluded.

City’s next clash will be against Golden Arrows on Wednesday, September 14. The game will be played at the Prince Magogo Stadium.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
