New Kaizer Chiefs signing Keagan Buchanan is nearing a return to pitch, the player announced on Monday.

The Amakhosi picked up the 24-year-old midfielder from Bloemfontein Celtic whilst still carrying a knee injury, but the player is anticipated to be ready for action by October.

Buchanan himself took to social media to announce he had almost completely recovered from the injury blow, which reduced him to making just 12 appearances for Celtic last term.

The news will likely excite Chiefs coach Steve Komphela as the Amakhosi looked desperate for a creative spark towards the end of last season. In addition, the side are currently without influential captain Siphiwe Tshabalala, who has also been sidelined by injury.

In the meantime, the Glamour Boys are looking to further supplment their midfield options with the signing of Joseph Molangoane, who could arrive at the club pending a contract dispute with Chippa United.

Chiefs take on Bidvest Wits in their first game of the season.

That match will be played at the Bidvest Stadium on August 23.

Kick-off is at 19:30.

Almost time to be back on the field 100% ⚽️ 2 more weeks 🙏🏽 All glory to God …
