Chippa United chairman Siviwe Mpengesi has wished midfielder Xola Mlambo the best of luck on his venture at a new club.

The 25-year-old helped the Chilli Boys to a sixth place finish in the Absa Premiership last season, their highest ever finish in the PSL, netted twice and featured in 11 appearances in all competitions.

The club chairman has wished Mlambo well on his venture with his new club.

‘I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the Club in its entirety to wish Xola (Mlambo) all the best at Bidvest Wits,’ Mpengesi said

Mpengesi revealed that the club had no intention to sell the midfielder after Mlambo committed his future to the club, signing a new three-year deal with the club last season.

However, after two unsuccessful bids from Bidvest Wits, both Chippa and Wits finally came to an agreement over the transfer of the midfielder.

‘We turned down a couple of proposals from Bidvest Wits, but their final offer was very serious. Following consultation with the management and the head coach, we reached an agreement with Wits,’ he added.

‘We thank Xola for his dedication and discipline, it was easy to pick up from his first day with us that he is a well mannered, humble and rooted young  man.’

Mpengesi went on to tip Mlambo to be a ‘powerhouse’ in the Absa Premiership in the future.

‘He is an example to aspiring players, and with his potential, he also could have led the Club in future. We have no doubt that he is going to be a powerhouse in South African football,’ he said.
