From Mark Mayambela to Leonardo Castro, TFG SoccerClub senior writer MARSHALL GOUTS takes a look at five of the best and worst individual performers from Kaizer Chiefs’ 0-0 draw against Chippa United.

Best:

Ruzaigh Gamieldien:

Grew in leaps and bounds as the game went on. Dazzled the likes of George Maluleka and Philani Zulu and was Chippa’s go-to-guy in terms of creatvity in attack.

Willard Katsande:

Brought some much needed stability to Chiefs in the midfield. Often broke down Chippa’s play

Siyabonga Ngezana:

Showed his excellent defensive skills denying Chippa not one, but two clear cut goals from Thabo Rakhale and Lerato Manzini.

Kurt Lentjies:

Played an intergal part of Chippa’s flowing attack and probably had the most touches of the ball on the pitch. Was let down by those furtherer forward than him.

Mark Mayambela:

Came on as a second half substitute for the Chillie Boys and helped shift the momentum in favour of the visitors. Unplayable when on song and his 45 minute stint was one of those where he brimmed with confidence.

Worst:

Leonardo Castro:

He worked tirelessly with his off-the-ball movement, but could just not connect with teammates. Looked a tad short of match fitness.

Thabo Rakhale:

‘Jomo’ showed his willingness to take his opponents head-on, but his decision-making left much to be desired. Often got into goalscoring opportunities and squandered them.

Philani Zulu:

Saw a lot of the ball, but it was mainly in his own half. Looked good on the ball, but proved ineffective in the final third.

Lerato Manzini:

It certainly wasn’t the worst performance from the veteran forward, however he will be feeling dissapointed in his efforts having squandered two golden opportunites to break the deadlock.

Hendrick Ekstein:

Much like Zulu, he looked nifty when on the ball but proved completly ineffective and was forced to chase the shadows of Lentjies and company.
