The much-anticipated clash between Mzansi Super League log leaders Cape Town Blitz and the Nelson Mandela Bay Giants at St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth has been abandoned due to heavy rain.

The Giants and the Blitz had to settle for a share of the spoils after the visitors arrived in the Eastern Cape on the back of their four-match winning streak being broken by Paarl Rocks at the weekend – a crucial result that jolted the progress of the runaway leaders.

Both the Giants and Blitz may have had high hopes of achieving a key result in PE, but instead had to settle for only two points each that did little to change the reflection of the table.

The Capetonians now move up to 20 points from six games, six ahead of the home side, who moved to 14.

Next up for the Giants is another home encounter against the Rocks on Friday, with the Blitz scheduled to travel to the Tshwane Spartans on Saturday.
