Kaizer Chiefs attacker Lebohang Maboe says he is expecting a “tough and physical challenge” when they face Al Masry SC in the CAF Confederation Cup.

The 31-year-old joined Amakhosi from Mamelodi Sundowns at the start of the campaign and has only made one appearance for the Glamour Boys so far.

Amakhosi were drawn against Zamalek SC, Al Masry, and Zesco United FC in Group D.

Maboe will be hoping to make his debut in this competition for Chiefs when they take on the Egyptian outfit at the New Suez Stadium in their opening group stage match.

“We are about to embark on a very important journey. We have looked sharp in training and are all ‘amped up’ for the game on Sunday,” Maboe told his club’s official website.

“Given that it’s an away game, we expect a tough, physical challenge but we know the importance of getting off to a good start so we are going there to get something, not just make up numbers.

“Al Masry are a good side with a well-defined shape, using a diamond midfield and wingbacks, plus two mobile strikers up front.

“We are aware that we’ll have to be at our best against them on their home turf but we believe in ourselves and are looking forward to the test.”
