South African defender Aden McCarthy says his side will head into their final COSAFA Cup group stage clash against Mauritius ready to fight.
The South African national team are set to take on Mauritius when the two sides meet at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium this afternoon.
South Africa currently sit in second place in Group A with three points, having won one and conceded one defeat in two matches.
McCarthy is confident that his side will walk away with a positive result in the hope of qualifying for the next round.
“Coming to Bloemfontein ahead of the COSAFA tournament, we did not have much time to prepare, but you know, we have players that are coachable and with us playing for our respective teams back home, you know that we come from a busy season.
“So, we just have to stick it through, and we came here with a mindset ready to fight, and ready to conquer and win games. Unfortunately, the first game never went in our favour (Mozambique beat SA 1-0 in the opening match of the tournament).
“But we came back with a good fight for the second game (against Zimbabwe) and going into the third one (against Mauritius), I feel like as a team we are very prepared for that mentally and we are strong as well on the field.
“There’s no team that can dominate the ball as much as we do on the field, and we are just going to go with that in terms of our confidence in one another, our belief in one another and the belief coming from the technical team. We are just going to work as one team to overcome the opposition.”
