Mamelodi Sundowns moved one step closer to securing the Betway Premiership title following their 3-0 victory over Chippa United at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Brazilians opened the scoring as early as the 29th minute when in-form striker Iqraam Rayerns found the back of the net to score his 12th goal in the league.

Jayden Adams then got in on the action and doubled Sundowns’ lead in the 40th minute when he fired the ball into the back of the net after latching on to a loose ball in the area.

Substitute Thapelo Maseko put the game beyond Chippa after he latched on to a through ball by Arthur Sales to slot the ball home and set a new record for Sundowns by scoring the most goals in a PSL season, with 57 goals this season.

The win sees Sundowns remain at the top of the Betway Premiership standings with 67 points after 26 games, while Chippa remain in ninth place on the table with 30 points from 26 matches.
