Watch as former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder George Lebese opened his account for American club Colorado Switchbacks FC this past weekend in a man-of-the-match performance.

The winger moved to the States following a turbulent time at Chloorkop where he failed to break into the first team following a shock move from Chiefs.

Lebese joined the club at the start of 2020 and made his debut for the USL Championship side in March 2020. However, he had to wait almost four months for his next appearance due to the lengthy Covid-19 suspension of football in America.

The winger has been a permanent fixture in the Switcbacks side since the resumption. He was the star of the show in the early hours of Sunday morning as his side took on Real Monarchs in the USL Championship. Despite suffering a 2-1 loss, Lebese produced a man-of-the-match performance and picked up his first goal for the club.

Lebese’s Switchbacks FC have now dropped to third place in Group C of the USL Championship after Sunday’s defeat, six points behind New Mexico who have played an extra game. They now turn their attentions to El Paso Locomotive, who they’ll face in Texas on 9 August.
