Ajax Cape Town coach Stanley Menzo says he is confident his players will regain their form and return to winning ways ahead of their clash against Cape Town City on Saturday.
The Urban Warriors are currently placed 11th in the Absa Premiership standings with 18 points, having won just five out of 16 matches played so far this season.
The 53-year-old admits that Eric Tinklerโs side are favourites heading into the match but he insists his side are out to claim all three points.
โAs a coach, for me, it is firstly and most importantly that we get the points we need, we are still in a position that is not good,โ Menzo told the Ajax Cape Town website.
โOf course, the Derby is a very nice moment, it is something special for the people. It is a three-dimensional match.
โThe log doesnโt lie and they are third on the log standings, that means that they are the favourites, but it is a special gameโฆa Derby. At the moment of the match, we donโt look at the log.
Ajax Cape Town endured a huge upturn in results following the Dutchmanโs appointment as head coach last year, and he has called on his troops to re-ignite that same kind of fire as the Urban Warriors aim to topple their rivals.
Menzo has revealed that the Urban Warriors will be hoping to find their form this season and return to winning ways.
โWe need to get results and results breed confidence, when you lose 5-0 it doesnโt give you a big boost. What I saw at the end of last year was a team that played with fire and heart, and that is what I missed on Tuesday,โ He added.
โI hope and I am sure that the players will give us fire and heart on Saturday.
The match at Cape Town Stadium kicks off at 20:15.
