Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic says a lapse in concentration cost them a spot in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals following the loss at the hands of Cape Town City.

Ayanda Patosi netted the only goal of the game as Benni McCarthyโ€™s side edged the Soweto giants in a pulsating encounter at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday night.

Sredojevic credited the opponents for the goal, but bemoaned his sideโ€™s lack of concentration at that moment.

โ€˜We told the boys that this is the final before the final against a really good team,โ€™ he said in post-match comments.

โ€˜We did everything right, but we lost concentration in that one moment when isolation on [Mthokozisi] Dube allowed the cross to come in.

โ€˜It was a moment of brilliance from the opponents to score that goal.

โ€˜We tried from the start. It was like a chess game, we played one move for each move. Unfortunately, that one move cost us so much.

โ€˜We tried from then on to attack and brought three target strikers in to provide service and more crosses into the box, but whatever we created didnโ€™t result in a goal,โ€™ he concluded.

Pirates will shift their focus back to the Absa Premiership where they face Golden Arrows on Saturday with kick-off set for 20:15.
