The Brazilians need a win to progress to the round of 16 but had to settle for a point in their goalless draw against the Brazilian outfit.
Sundowns began their tournament with a 1-0 win over Ulsan HD in the group opener before suffering a 4-3 defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the match to follow.

However, Sundowns’ journey came to an end after playing to a goalless draw against Fluminense in their final group match.
Miguel Carodo’s side ended up finishing in third place in Group F with four points, having claimed one win, a draw and conceded one defeat in three matches.
