Inter Miami manager Javier Mascherano admits there was a huge difference in playing against the best team in the world.

The Herons journey in the tournament came to an end after they suffered a 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup last 16 encounter at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

Inter leaves the tournament having won one game, drawn two and conceded just one defeat in four matches.

Mascherano admits he is proud of his side for their performance against the European championship, especially their fighting spirit in the second-half.

“The message is that when we’re committed and we all work together, you can compete,” Mascherano told DAZN.

“If there’s one sport that gives you the chance to compete, it’s football, regardless of the differences.

“Clearly, today the difference was huge; we were up against, probably, the best team in the world with a fantastic coach.

“Until the very last minute we tried to stand tall, so I’m proud of the players.”
