Rivaldo Coetzee made his long-awaited debut as Mamelodi Sundowns secured a 2-0 victory against Leones Vegetarianos in their Caf Champions League clash on Wednesday evening.

Denis Onyango: 6/10

Didn’t have much to do in the way of saves, but did well when called upon to keep a clean sheet.

Rivaldo Coetzee: 7/10

Marked his debut with a solid performance. Displayed his great timing and excellent range of passing throughout the clash.

Wayne Arendse: 7/10

Marshalled the Sundowns defence superbly. Won everything in the air and came close to putting his name on to the scoresheet.

Anele Ngcongca: 7/10

Defensively sound throughout the game. Didn’t offer too much in the way of attack, not that it was needed. Showed his experience by constantly communicating with teammates.

Andile Jali: 8/10

Formed an excellent partnership in the middle of the park with Bafana Bafana teammate Kekana. Gradually getting back to the form that made him a household name in South Africa and Belgium.

Hlompho Kekana; 7/10

Solid game overall. Helped Sundowns to keep the ball moving with his pin-point distribution.

Themba Zwane: 8/10

Proved influential in attack for the former Caf Champions League winners. Took his goal well, showing great composure to not only beat the offside trap, but to slot home as well.

Lebogang Maboe: 8/10

Seems to be getting into the swing of things at Chloorkop. Flashes of the Maboe from Maritzburg are starting to show. The Bafana international needs to work on his composure in front of the goal though.

Gaston Sirino: 7/10

Showed his class in patches throughout the clash. As Sundowns’ go-to-guy in attack for creativity, the South American needs to stop blowing hot and cold if Sundowns are to call on him at a later stage in the tournament.

Jeremy Brockie: 8/10

Scored a world-class volley with his back to goal, displaying his vast predatory instinct in front of goal. Sundowns seem to be playing more to his strength these days, which has aided him.
