Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has opened up on Marcelo Allende’s impact in the Brazilians’ squad.

The 26-year-old has been ever-present in the Sundowns squad and has scored three goals and grabbed two assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.

Allende played a huge role in helping Sundowns secure a 2-0 victory over Cape Town City in the Betway Premiership, winning the Man of the Match award for his efforts.

Sundowns have now strengthened their lead at the top of the Betway Premiership standings with 64 points, having won 21 games, drawn one and only conceded three defeats in 25 matches.

The Brazilians are now set to face Chippa United when the two sides meet at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Wednesday, with kick-off set for 19:30.

“I think we are a humble team and humility it’s not a bad value not too much if it’s too much of course it’s not proper but having it in the right sense understanding step-by-step it’s how you make a career working hard,” Cardoso said.

“That’s what my boys are doing – Marcelo is obviously one of them – a high-quality player but it’s beautiful to see how they remain humble. We made some corrections at halftime.

“I told them there’s something that are not ok and they tried to do it immediately in the second half and we got a goal because of that.

“I’m a very proud coach, proud of the club where I work, proud of the family that supports this club or the values that we grow and also proud of the work of the boys, my staff.

“The staff around us but still a lot to fight, still a lot to fight. We have four finals to play let’s focus on the next one now.”
