Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi says he is expecting a “very tough” Soweto derby when they take on Orlando Pirates on Saturday afternoon.

The Soweto giants are set to go head-to-head with Soweto rivals Pirates when the two sides square off at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

Chiefs will look to bounce back after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Marumo Gallants at the FNB Stadium in their last Betway Premiership fixture.

The Glamour Boys currently find themselves sitting in eighth place on the table, having won eight, drawn seven and suffered 11 defeats in 26 matches with 31 points.

Nabi has opened up on what he experienced and learnt from being at the helm of Amakhosi during derby matches.

“The first Derby we played was a good, entertaining game which was decided by a small detail in the last minute,” Nabi told his club’s official website.

“We believe we deserved better in that game. We are expecting a very tough Derby again on Saturday, although we know more about how to approach the Derby than we did in the first one. There are possibilities open for both teams to win.

“What I learnt is that the Soweto Derby is more than football. It affects the whole society. It transcends football.

“It is a cultural thing. It is a South African derby, an African derby, and an international derby. It ranks among the great derbies of world football.”

Kick-off has been scheduled for 3pm.
