Mamelodi Sundowns claimed their eighth successive Betway Premiership title following their 3-0 victory over Chippa United at the Buffalo City Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Brazilians came into this encounter only needing a point to secure their 15th league title and eighth straight.

The Brazilians got off to a flying start and opened the scoring through Iqraam Rayners, who found the top scoring with a curling effort after receiving a ball from Lucas Ribeiro Costa.

The opening goal saw Rayners go joint top of the goal scoring charts with teammate Ribeiro, with both players sitting on 14 goals in the league.

Sundowns doubled their lead in the 69th minute when forward Arthur Sales found the back of the net from a tight angle four minutes after coming on to replace Rayners.

The Tshwane giant grabbed their third goal in the 80th minute when goalkeeper Darren Johnson played the ball straight into the path of Sales, who slotted the ball into an empty net to make it 3-0.

In the end, Sundowns held on and cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory to retain the league title for the eighth successive season.
