This past weekend, Nedbank and the PSL welcomed the return of its fans. Since the start of the Nedbank Cup tournament, football fans have been patiently waiting to watch their favourite teams go head to head for their shot at the final.

‘It was such a remarkable moment to witness live spectators after such a long period. The atmosphere was invigorating – it’s what we envisaged at the onset of Nedbank Cup for football fans. Having spectators back in the stadiums is exactly what the players needed to give them that push to secure their spot in the semi-finals,” says Nedbank’s group executive for marketing and corporate affairs, Khensani Nobanda.

Football fans in Durban were also treated to a VIP viewing experience, to watch the Marumo Gallants FC vs Baroka FC and the Mamelodi Sundowns vs Summerfield Dynamos FC fixtures. Fans were also treated with guest appearances from football greats and Nedbank Cup ambassadors Teko Modise, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Reneilwe ‘Yeye’ Letsholonyane and host Brian Mathe.

Friday evening, Tshakhuma FC kept their Nedbank Cup dream alive after a 3-2 victory over SuperSport United at the Thohoyandou Stadium.

On Saturday afternoon, Marumo Gallants overcame Limpopo rivals Baroka FC 1-0 at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium, placing them in the upcoming semi-finals.
