A late goal from Kamogelo Sebelebele saw Orlando Pirates secure a 1-1 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns in their MTN8 semi-final first leg at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

Sundowns were dealt a massive blow in the 12th minute when captain Themba Zwane was forced off the field after picking up an injury. He was subsequently replaced by Jayden Adams.

Pirates had a chance to open the scoring in the 26th minute when Relebohile Mofokeng picked out Kamogelo Sebelebele, who was unable to find the back of the net from close range.

The Brazilians opened the scoring in the 36th minute when Teboho Mokoena headed the ball home after latching on to a corner from Marcelo Allende.

Sundown held on to their one-goal lead as the game went into the half-time break at 1-0 in favour of the Brazilians.

The visitors had a chance to double their lead in the 56th minute but Iqraam Rayners had his effort saved by the Pirates keeper after he beat the defenders in the box.

Ronwen Williams was called to action in the 77th minute when Evidence Makgopa unleashed a long-range effort at goal but the Sundowns keeper made a comfortable save to deny the striker.

Pirates managed to draw the game level in the 87th minute after Kamogelo Sebelebele beat his marker to slot the ball past Williams to make it 1-1.

Both sides pushed forward in search of the winning goal but neither side could find the back of the net as the game ended 1-1 at the Orlando Stadium.
