Mamelodi Sundowns forward Arthur Sales believes there is no bigger game in South African football than facing Orlando Pirates.
The Brazilians will take on the defending champions when they meet in the MTN8 final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
Sundowns will look to claim the elusive top-eight title, having last won the trophy back in 2021.
Sales is relishing the occasion, insisting he would much rather test himself in a high-profile cup final against one of the country’s biggest clubs than face a lesser opponent in a midweek league fixture.
“I think the tough games in South Africa are against Pirates. Many years we stay close (in the league).
“We compete (for) cups and league. I think it’s the most big game for us in South Africa,” the Brazilian attacker told media during the MTN8 final media open day at Chloorkop.
“Of course, it’s a big game. Two big clubs in one final. It’s different to play Sundowns and Pirates in a league game.
“Now it’s a final. I am feeling happy to play this kind of game. I prefer to play this final than on a Wednesday, travel to a small stadium. I prefer more this games for the level.”
