Coach Jose Riveiro has called on the club’s supporters to be patient and supportive when the new Orlando Pirates coach arrives next season.

The Spanish tactician was in the dugout for the final time after guiding Pirates to a 3-0 victory over Golden Arrows at the Orlando Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Riveiro has been in charge of 131 games, winning 82 games, drawing 22 and conceding 27 defeats in the process.

The 49-year-old mentor has won five trophies in his three-year stint, winning three MTN8 titles and two Nedbank Cup trophies, while finishing as runners-up in the Betway Premiership during the 2022–23 and 2023–24 seasons.

Riveiro has urged the club’s supporters to be patient with the new coach when he arrives next season.

“The key for me is to understand the type of players we have in the team, how young they are and they must help them to have a bright future,” Riveiro told SuperSport TV.

“They must be patient with them, they have to be supportive with them as well as with the new coach, whoever is coming is coming with the intention to help the team go to the next level, to help the project go forward, to help the players to become better players and it’s important that the fans also having a decent amount of patience with him and support him in the beginning because he’s gonna need it.”
