Heinrich Klaasen hit a ton as South Africa thrashed England by a mammoth 229 runs in the Cricket World Cup in Mumbai on Saturday.

Even though Klaasen had cramps a lot, he scored 109 runs as South Africa scored a huge 399-7, which was the highest score England had ever given up at this level.

After that, England fell to 68-6 and ended the game on 170-9, with exactly 28 overs to spare. Last man Reece Topley couldn’t bat because he hurt his hand during South Africa’s innings.

This crushing loss was England’s worst ODI loss since 2002, when they lost by 221 runs to Australia in Melbourne.

Marco Jansen was a great partner for Klaasen in a sixth-wicket stand of 151 runs in just 77 balls.

Jansen scored three fours and six sixes and ended the game on 75 not out, which was his first fifty in an ODI.

Once he was back to his normal role as a left-arm quick, he took two early wickets.

Even Ben Stokes, who was playing in his first tournament game, couldn’t save England this time. Kagiso Rabada caught and bowled the star player for just five runs.

England had to work hard to make it to the semi-finals after losing their third game in a row, including a shocking loss to Afghanistan in their last game.

South Africa, on the other hand, needed a big win after their shocking loss to the Netherlands, which wasn’t a Test match.

Big-hitting Klaasen hit a six and a four off of fast bowler Mark Wood’s next two balls to finish a 61-ball hundred earlier.

He was out in the end when Gus Atkinson bowled him in the last over. He had hit 12 fours and 4 sixes.

When they lost the toss, the Proteas scored 143 runs in the last 10 overs.

Topley got three wickets but let 88 runs score in 8.5 overs. Express quick Wood scored 76 runs in seven overs without getting a wicket.

English bowlers caught Quinton de Kock behind on the very first ball of the innings after they won the toss.

But opener Reeza Hendricks made 85 and shared a second-wicket stand of 121 with Rassie van der Dussen (60). Hendricks was called up late because Proteas captain Temba Bavuma was sick and couldn’t play.

Adil Rashid bowled leg spin and got rid of Van der Dussen and Hendricks, but he could only watch as Jansen hit two sixes off of Topley full-tosses in a row.

When England’s opener Jonny Bairstow was out for 10, Jansen had a great day. He then got rid of Joe Root and Dawid Malan, leaving England with a score of 24–3.

After Stokes was out, Gerald Coetzee got rid of two batsmen in three balls. England captain Jos Buttler edged to the other team’s wicketkeeper De Kock, and Harry Brook was caught lbw for 17 after a disappointing review.

South Africa was clearly in charge when Rabada dived and caught David Willey while running around from mid-off, leaving England with a score of 100-8.

Tailenders Atkinson (35) and Wood (43 not out) put off what was going to happen before spinner Keshav Maharaj bowled Atkinson.
