Orlando Pirates chairman Dr Irvin Khoza says Rhulani Mokwena will keep his position as head coach until the end of the season.

Khoza decided that the 34-year-old Mokwena was right for the job, and he took over the head coach role following the departure of former coach Milutin Sredojevic in August.

Mokwena has endured a slow start to the campaign, with his side claiming four wins from 14 games across all competitions while conceding six defeats and four draws.

However, the club chairman has since confirmed that Mokwena will finish the season as head coach, which gives the club enough time to find a suitable replacement.

‘When we hired Rhulani Mokwena, we said he would hold it down until the end of the season,’ Khoza told the media.

‘They [fans] knew that it was either right or wrong, but what is important is that we give him this opportunity because he deserves it and he will continue until the end of the season as we have already agreed.’

Orlando Pirates will next be in action when they welcome Polokwane City to the Orlando Stadium on 24 November for their next Absa Premiership encounter, which kicks off at 7:30pm.
