Stellenbosch FC head coach Gavin Hunt showered Wonderboy Makhubu with praise following his display against Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup.

The 29-year-old made his second appearance for Stellies in their 2-1 win over Amakhosi in the Round of 32.

Makhubu played a starring role in the match to help his side secure their place in the last 16.

Hunt was full of praise for the Gauteng-based forward after he played the full 90 minutes for the Maroons.

“Firstly, great performance, really tug in performance, I was disappointed we didn’t make it 3-1 there. They had chances because that’s what your goalkeeper is there for, it was a real cup tie on a very difficult pitch, hard to play and bumpy,” Hunt told SuperSport TV after the game.

“But excellent, I want to commend everybody, I thought Wonderboy Makhubu was outstanding, proper number nine footballer, something we really need and so he is coming up tonight so fair play.

“But to everybody, Titus, Jabaar, everybody in midfield it was important, trying to build something from here.”
