Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that captain Yusuf Maart has left the club to join Bundesliga outfit SV Ried.

The Cape Town-born midfielder joined the Glamour Boys from Sekhukhune United during the 2022-23.

Maart has since gone on to feature 95 times for Amakhosi while scoring seven goals and registering eight goals in the process.

Over the course of his career, Maart has scored 10 goals and grabbed 10 assists in 130 appearances across all competitions playing for the likes of Cape Umoya United FC, Orlando Pirates and Sekhukhune United.

The 29-year-old has now parted ways with the club to join SV Ried ahead of the 2025-26 season.

“Midfielder, Yusuf Maart has left Amakhosi to join newly-promoted Austrian Football Bundesliga outfit, SV Ried,” Chiefs said in a statement.

“The 29-year-old joined Chiefs from Sekhukhune United in July 2022, making his debut away to Royal AM the following month, and featured in 95 matches in the Gold & Black in all competitions, scoring seven times, including the winning goal in last season’s Nedbank Cup Final.

“The erstwhile skipper also weighed in with eight assists in his three seasons at Naturena.

“The Club appreciates Maart’s contribution to Kaizer Chiefs and wishes him well in this new chapter in his career.”
