Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze highlighted the importance of players stepping up as the season approaches its decisive stages, praising the impact of forward Wandile Duba.

The 21-year-old has not been a regular starter for Amakhosi but he has managed to feature 15 times for the club, while scoring one goal and registering one assist.

Duba lasted 62 minutes in their 2-0 win over Magesi FC at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban before he was replaced by Mfundo Vilakazi.

The win sees Amakhosi move up to fourth place in the Betway Premiership standings with 36 points after 20 matches.

Kaze believes opportunities for players who have had limited game time are crucial for building confidence and strengthening the squad as Amakhosi push to finish the campaign strongly in the Betway Premiership.

“It’s very important, a player like Wandile Duba didn’t get a lot of time playing and this is going to give him enough confidence to go forward,” Kaze told SuperSport TV after the match.

“As well, it’s a good thing that there are players that are coming along into this end of the season because we’re going to need everyone to finish strong.”
