Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos believes South Africa have already surpassed expectations by reaching the World Cup knockout stages, but insists his side are hungry for more success in their historic run.

South Africa made history when they qualified for the World Cup Round of 32 for the first time in the country’s history.

Bafana will be looking to continue their current momentum when they take on Canada in the last 32 when they meet at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Broos acknowledges that progressing beyond Canada would represent a remarkable achievement for the national team.

“We can already say now that the World Cup is a success for us,” Broos told FIFA.

“Everybody expected and hoped that we’d reach the second round – and we did. This is important. But that doesn’t mean that we are happy now and that we just play the game tomorrow (today) and go home. Once you are there, you want more.

“We want to win the game tomorrow (today) . If we can show the same mentality and the same level as against Korea Republic, then I think we have a chance to win, even though Canada is a very good team.

“But if we should reach the next round, then I’d say that’s really a miracle for Bafana Bafana.”
