Durban City FC have confirmed the appointment of Gavin as their new head coach ahead of the 2025-26 Betway Premiership season.
The 60-year-old has been without a club since parting ways with SuperSport United in March.
Matsatsantsa has since sold their Premier Soccer League status to Siwelele FC.
Hunt will now succeed Simo Dladla, who parted ways with the club after he failed to agree to terms on a new deal.
Hunt brings a wealth of experience, having previously coached Hellenic FC, Black Leopards, Moroka Swallows, SuperSport United, Bidvest Wits FC, Kaizer Chiefs and Chippa United.
“Durban City Football Club is delighted to officially announce the appointment of Gavin Hunt as the Club’s new Head Coach ahead of the 2025/2026 Betway Premiership Season,” Durban City said in a statement.
“With a distinguished career spanning more than two decades at the top level of South African Football, Hunt brings a wealth of experience, having won multiple league titles and domestic trophies. His strong leadership style and results driven approach aligns perfectly with Durban City’s ambitions as we prepare for the upcoming 2025/2026 Betway Premiership Season.
