A late goal from Keagan Dolly earned Kaizer Chiefs a point after playing out to a 1-1 draw with AmaZulu at the Jonsson Kings Park Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Gavin Hunt made four changes from their squad that drew with Marumo Gallants last week as Phathutshedzo Nange returned from injury and replaced Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, while Njabulo Ngcobo came in for Daniel Cardoso, Austin Dube replaced the suspended Sifiso Hlanti and Bernard Parker substituted Lebogang Manyama.

The game got off to a slow start as both teams were trying to find their rhythm in the opening exchanges.

Amakhosi should have taken the lead in the 20th minute, but Keagan Dolly saw his attempt kept out by Veli Mothwa after receiving a delightful pass from Khama Billiat.

Usuthu had a chance of their own in the 27th minute but Sandile Khumalo saw his effort saved by Daniel Akpeyi after Dube’s failed attempted clearance.

The AmaZulu goalkeeper kept the scoreline level as the game went into half time after he made two superb saves to deny Parker and Billiat.

Usuthu came out the better side in the second half and managed to break the deadlock two minutes in when Luvuyo Memela showed his composure with a neat finish to make it 1-0.

The home nearly doubled their lead in the 56th minute but Akpeyi made a good save to deny AmaZulu on the counter-attack.

Amakhosi looked to get back on level terms in the 66th minute when Dolly tried to get the ball into a dangerous area, but Xoki managed to clear the ball away to safety.

The visitors made their first substitution in the 80th minute as Lebogang came on to replace Cole Alexander in attack.

Dolly should’ve levelled matters six minutes later when he unleashed a thunderous strike at goal, but Mothwa was on hand to deny the Chiefs attacker.

Chiefs were then awarded a penalty in the 90th minute, with Dolly stepping up to level matters from the spot.

Neither side were able to find the winning goal in the closing stages of the game as they settled for a point each in Durban.
