Mamelodi Sundowns striker Iqraam Rayners says his side are in for a tough battle when they take on Chippa United in the Betway Premiership on Wednesday evening.

The Brazilians will come into this fixture high in confidence following their 2-0 victory over Cape Town City thanks to goals from Tashreeq Matthews and Rayners at the DHL Stadium on Saturday.

Miguel Cardoso’s side will look to continue their winning run when they take on the Chilli Boys at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, with kick-off set for 19:30.

Sundowns are currently at the top of the Betway Premiership standings with 64 points, having won 21 games, drawn one and only conceded three defeats in 25 matches.

The 29-year-old has been in fine form for Sundowns, having scored 11 goals and grabbed nine assists in 22 Betway Premiership appearances.

“The mood has always been good, especially at camp, between the players and the technical team. I would like to believe that we are in a good space after last weekend’s game,” Rayners told his club’s official website.

“It’s always difficult to play teams like Chippa because they are fighting for their lives to ensure they make it to the top eight, and it will be important to get maximum points.

“It’s always going to be good for a team like Chippa United to play against a team like Mamelodi Sundowns.

“They are going to make things hard for us, but we just need to take the game to the next level and get the maximum points.

“I know there’s quality in that team, and we know they are going to pose serious threats. We are looking forward to the game tomorrow,” he concluded.
