Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the signing of teen sensation Luke Baartman.

The 19-year-old joins the club from Cape Town Spurs, who were relegated to the ABC Motsepe League

Baartman arrived at the club on a free transfer after the PSL Dispute Resolution Chamber declared him a free agent.

Baartman becomes Chiefs’ ninth signing behind Nkanyiso Shinga, Thabiso Monyane, Paseka Mako, Ethan Chislett, Luke Baartman, Asanele Velebayi, Etiosa Ighodaro, Siphesihle Ndlovu, and Flávio Silva.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Luke to our team,” says Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr.

“He is an exciting young talent that we’ve been monitoring for the past few seasons both at Club level, in the Bayhill Cup – where he was voted player of the tournament – and the U-17 national team that played at AFCON.

“We believe he will bring valuable versatility, playing both as a centre-forward and a winger. We look forward to seeing him in action soon.”

Kaizer Chiefs released the following statement on acquiring the services of Luke Baartman:

Following this morning’s announcement of the acquisition of Etiosa Ighodaro, Kaizer Chiefs are pleased to confirm the signing of another forward, Luke Baartman, making him the Club’s ninth signing of the 2025/26 season.

The 19-year-old junior international joins Amakhosi from Cape Town Spurs, where he played in the Motsepe Foundation League last season. He has also represented South Africa at the junior level.
