Former Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has claimed that South Africa could be set back five years if Pitso Mosimane succeeds him.
The 74-year-old left his role as head coach of Bafana at the end of July after making history with the national team at the 2026 World Cup.
Recent reports has since suggested that South African Football Association (SAFA) have agreed to appoint Mosimane in his place.
Broos acknowledged Mosimane’s success as a South African coach but questioned whether his appointment would represent progress for the national team.
“South Africa still don’t have a coach,” Broos told Het Nieuwsblad.
“The candidate is Pitso Mosimane, a successful South African coach. But they know that if he comes in, they’ll go five years back in time.”
