Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has warned his side that Korea Republic will pose a serious challenge for South Africa.
South Africa will be on the hunt for their first win at the World Cup following their 1-1 draw against Czechia last week.
Bafana will be looking to secure maximum points when they meet Korea in their final Group A encounter at the Estadio BBVA in Guadalupe.
Broos described the Asian side as relentless and highly organised, comparing their energy levels to “Duracells” and highlighting their ability to maintain a high work rate for 90 minutes.
“I’m very sorry to say this, but they [South Korea] are like Duracells: you plug them in, and they start running, and they run for 90 minutes, so it will not be easy.
“Yes, South Korea is a little bit in between Mexico and Czechia: it’s a very disciplined team.
“This is a characteristic of the Eastern teams; they are always disciplined, you saw that in their game against Czechia. They also have good players, a few key players in the team.”
