Tazmin Brits smashed a century as South Africa secured a six-wicket victory over New Zealand in their second match of the Women’s Cricket World Cup.
Following their defeat to England in the opening fixture, the Proteas secured their first win at the World Cup after beating the White Ferns at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore.
The South Africa side were chasing 232 runs after New Zealand opted to bat first, in which Nonkululeko Mlaba claimed four wickets from 10 overs.
Brits hit up a score of 101 runs off 89 ball after smashing 15 fours and one six before Sune Luus capped of the evening with an unbeaten 83 off 113 ball.
The win takes the Proteas up to fifth place on the table with two points from their first two matches.
“It is such an amazing turnaround,” Proteas Women captain Laura Wolvaardt said.
“This is what we knew we were capable of, really happy of how quickly we put that behind us and bounced back today.”
